Ikogosi Resort Taps Tech for Revenue Boost

Lanre Balogun, the General Manager of Glocient Hospitality—a division of Cavista Holdings—stated that they are transforming the management practices at the Ikogosi Warm Springs and Resort in Ekiti State using cutting-edge technology.

In an interview with The PUNCH, Balogun revealed how implementing a property management system has revolutionized the resort’s capability to handle revenues, monitor inventory, and improve guest experiences.

The Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort is owned by the Ekiti State Government; however, via its investment entity, Fountain Holdings Limited, it awarded a 15-year Build-Operate-and Transfer concession for the resort to Glocient in 2022.

During this timeframe, the firm will be tasked with rejuvenating, overseeing, and running the resort according to global excellence benchmarks.

Balogun highlighted the essential part that technology plays in tackling operational issues within Nigeria’s hospitality industry. He stated, "Technology is crucial because without it, capturing data efficiently would be impossible. In our nation, inadequate record-keeping can feel as futile as trying to collect water with a sieve."

The PMS integrates key functions, including front office management, restaurant and bar operations, housekeeping, maintenance, and inventory control, enabling real-time monitoring of stock levels and revenue streams.

"For example, if we have 100 bottles of a drink and sell 20, the system logs the income generated from those 20 bottles and monitors the leftover inventory as capital," Balogun clarified.

By adopting this data-driven strategy, we ensure openness and responsibility, enabling the resort to achieve its fiscal objectives. Additionally, the system offers performance indicators that notify managers about their advancement toward these goals and immediately pinpoint any deficiencies.

The technological upgrade encompasses every area visible to guests as well as those used for operations, including the lobby, dining venues, and various entry points throughout the resort. Through process simplification and error reduction, Glocient Hospitality aims to boost efficiency and improve the overall guest experience at Ikogosi, an important tourist spot located in Ekiti State.

Balogun's comments highlight Glocient's larger objective of updating Nigeria's hospitality sector. "We are driven by technology," he stated, "which enables us to clearly analyze data and remain focused on achieving our goals." This effort supports Cavista Holdings' dedication to using innovations for enhancing tourism and fostering economic development within Nigeria.
