After years of anticipation, Rockstar Games declared on Friday that Grand Theft Auto VI will be released. One of the most anticipated video games of the decade will be delayed beyond what many fans had hoped for, the company revealed.
Rockstar Games announced that the game’s release will be pushed back to May 26, 2026.
We deeply regret the delay beyond your expectations," the firm stated. "The level of enthusiasm and anticipation for a new Grand Theft Auto has been immensely gratifying for our whole crew.
Rockstar recognized the increasing pressure regarding the upcoming release of its latest open-world title yet reaffirmed their dedication to producing a game that meets the established standards.
"Every time we release a new game, our aim is to surpass what you might expect from us, and Grand Theft Auto VI follows this same principle," the statement continued.
Although delays typically bring disappointment to gamers, Rockstar Games emphasized that additional time is necessary to ensure they provide the quality their audience expects.
Rockstar Games stated that the Grand Theft Auto series continues to be among their most successful ventures in video game history. Since its launch in 2013, the latest significant entry, Grand Theft Auto V, has achieved sales exceeding 180 million units globally.
