Debt Threatens Dreams: RHOA's Angela Oakley Faces $215K Lawsuit as Her Real Estate Empire Crumbles

“ Real Housewives of Atlanta Newcomer Angela Oakley finds herself deeply indebted as she strives to become a prominent figure in Georgia's real estate industry. Married to former NBA player Charles Oakley, she made her debut in the reality TV series during season 16. During episode 10, broadcasted on May 11, she disclosed, "I owe $2 million." However, her monetary challenges extend further than what viewers were aware of; a lawsuit filed in February highlights an additional legal dispute concerning finances.

Angela, who is 44 years old, had earlier revealed how she turned herself into a self-made millionaire through purchasing and reselling properties. Unfortunately, recent events have not favored her in the current real estate market. "Things aren’t looking good for me regarding these houses," she stated about her five owned properties, where three of them currently listed at prices between $800,000 and $3 million each seem to be causing concern.

Most of these properties are prepared for sale, but the pricing strategy we've set isn't attracting buyers since none have been purchased," confessed the woman from Harvey, Illinois. Additionally, she shared candidly, "I'm eager to sell off these houses.

Yet, difficulty in selling the properties only hints at her financial struggles. According to documents acquired by the Atlanta Black Star from a court filing dated February 18 in the State Court of Fulton County, both Angela and their real estate ventures are listed as defendants for failing to honor a contractual obligation related to an outstanding loan. The pair has been wedded since 2016.

The "RHOA" cast members are in arrears due to unpaid charges totaling $214,975, which includes a $10,000 late fee. The Oakleys were given 10 days from the day they received the complaint to settle this six-figure sum.

The lawsuit filed by Plaintiff Pelican Solutions LLC alleges that the Oakleys—the Oakley Agency LLC, with Charles, Samuel & Jean Consulting LLC as their registered agent (Angela being the registered agent for this consulting firm)—and the newcomer from reality TV "committed" to guaranteeing the debts owed by Defendant Agency and Defendant Consulting through a Personal Guaranty of Payment signed on March 13, 2024.

She was supposed to make regular payments throughout the term, along with a large sum payment when the note matured on April 13, 2024. Not adhering to this arrangement could lead to consequences.

A ruling against the defendants, collectively and individually, for reimbursement of reasonably accrued attorney’s fees," along with "a judgment against the defendants, collectively and individually, in the main sum of $204,975 plus an additional late fee of $10,000... tax all expenses onto the defendants, collectively and individually, and grant such further relief as is equitable and fitting.

The newly refurbished house spans 7,093 square feet and is located at 4 Bentley Trace Mnr. This property boasts six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a grand double-door entryway, hardwood flooring throughout, a secluded deck, a two-car garage, and additional features all situated on an expansive one-acre plot. The listing appeared on Zillow on May 12, approximately a year following the expiration of the loan term as stated by Pelican Solutions LLC. Priced at $2,160,000, this residence presents itself attractively for potential buyers.
