Last week, General Motors notified its employees and China export business dealers that they will cease shipping vehicles from the U.S. to China, according to the company.
This step occurs as the United States and China keep engaging in talks about tariffs and various trade concerns.
Through its Durant Guild premium import division, GM exported vehicles from the United States to China. This accounted for less than 0.1% of the total sales GM achieves in China, as stated by a representative from the firm.

"Due to substantial shifts in economic circumstances, we have opted to reorganize The Durant Guild and simultaneously streamline GM China’s activities," stated the spokesperson in an official announcement.
Products brought into China from the United States were subject to tariffs exceeding 100% prior to the agreement between both nations to reduce these duties for a period of 90 days.
The article initially appeared in the Detroit Free Press. General Motors will cease shipping domestically produced vehicles to China.
