BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - One Coast business owner is looking to make a difference with the youth in the community through her small business.
Spinning a dream from a low point in life is something Sabrina Stallworth is all too familiar with. Her inspiration for her business “All Bottled Up” came after she lost her job in 2003. She became depressed and turned to heavy drinking. She turned her pain into something more.
“From that, I wanted to see if I could really make something,” she explained. “I would buy a pair of shoes or purse and take it apart and taught myself how to make accessories.”
Stallworth is known for creating handmade purses, shoes, bracelets, and other goods. It has a positive impact on her mental health.
It's incredibly soothing and calming for me to engage in creation. Just settling in and allowing my thoughts to drift as I gaze at something, attempting to visualize how it will turn out.
Her creations are constantly showcased in her workshop, giving her great satisfaction when she sees them. She now aspires to go further: assisting young people in discovering a positive hobby.
Watching these youngsters in their creative phase is exhilarating. It alone motivated me to be even more involved.
Stallworth thinks that assisting them in mastering this skill will unlock their creativity as well as teach them discipline and concentration.
After completion, the satisfaction from the final outcome allows your mind to reflect on what someone might be experiencing... My aim is for them to leave their troubles or problems behind and embrace a creative state of mind. Creativity holds spiritual significance for me, and when you connect with this realm, it unlocks new possibilities.
